Description
The course will introduce the variety of songs and melodies of the Cretan tradition, from the eastern to the western provinces of the island, as well as the ornamentation style. Our repertoire will include songs of the 19th century, the first recordings in the early 20th century, as well as songs of contemporary composers, to highlight the bond and continuity between older and recent songs and compositions. Over this time frame, we'll look at songs of the cities and of the countryside, syrta, wedding songs, lullabies, and more.
