Description
This course will cover various methods to approach modal rhythmic improvisation, starting with a repertoire that is familiar to the students involved. We will then examine the structures and forms of improvisation that have been developed through various music traditions. Improvisation is an extremely widespread practice in modal music. In many instances, rhythm is added and then we have modal rhythmic improvisation (or more simply the rhythmic solo).
