Cihan Türkoğlu began his musical journey when he was introduced to the bağlama saz, the Turkish folk lute. Upon discovering his love for music, he became an autodidact bağlama player. Later, he studied classical music at the Marmara University in Istanbul, focusing on the cello.
Cihan's classical music education, alongside many other music genres he found himself drawn to throughout the years, contributed to his current way of thinking. Cihan's identity stems from his unique view on how the saz can be used, practiced and taught, which can break the rules of how the instrument is traditionally played.
Cihan's experience as a composer, teacher, concert performer and organizer of multicultural projects has presented him with the opportunity to collaborate with many world-renowned artists.
