Vangelis Karipis was born in Athens in 1971 and studied Byzantine music and music theory at the Greek Conservatory. He also started playing percussion simultaneously. Over the years, he has performed with world renowned musicians in concerts and festivals around the world. He has also taught at seminars in Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Tunisia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, England and the US. He participated in the recordings for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. He has been the Head of the Percussion Department at the Athens Musicologie University since 2017. He also taught percussion at the Pallini and Chaidari music high schools, the Piraeus Music Center, the Panormonio Conservatory, the Cultural Center of Peristeri and Modern Music School.
