Derya Türkan was born in 1973 in Istanbul and studied kemance with İhsan Özgen at the Istanbul Technical University Conservatory between 1984 and 1994. Türkan entered the TRT Istanbul Radio in 1991 and became a permanent artist there in 2000. In 1997, Türkan founded Incesaz with Cengiz Onural and Murat Aydemir. The band has released eight albums and one DVD until now. He has also been featured on many other albums, as well as recorded his own solo album. These have led to many tours and performances worldwide with various artists. Since 2004, Türkan has been teaching seminars in Ross Daly’s Labyrinth Musical Workshop school in Crete. He has worked as the musical director of the well-known Turkish movie, Yahşi Batı and performed for the score of the movie, Argo.
