Zohar Izhak Fresco is known as a pioneer of the tof miriam, the ancient frame drum, originated in the Middle East more than 3000 years ago. Born in Israel to a family with roots in Turkey and as a descendant of Tamburi Izhak Fresco, a well known Jewish Turkish composer, he was drawn to music at an early age and was influenced by the music of his origins. Fresco dedicated his life to the development of a unique fingering technique and musical language named Manegina. Fresco created his own drumming style and became a mentor to musicians worldwide, learning and applying his musical method. Fresco’s research, experience and dedication made him a master of percussion and prominent music workshops conductor. He teaches his music theory and technique at institutions and music centres worldwide.
