Christos Kaliontzidis was born in Veria Imathias, Greece in 1993 and was raised in Thessaloniki. His father, Mixalis, is considered an important master of the Pontic lyra. At the age of 12, he performed Pontian music at events throughout Greece either with his father or alone. In 2011, he was accepted at the University of Ioannina, studying the musical tradition of Pontus. He plays several musical instruments, such as Pontic lyra, traditional violin, lute, oud, kemane, yayli tanbur, tulum but considers himself a lyra player. He founded his own recording studio called Argo Records in order to evolve his personal recordings. Since 2020, he has been a lecturer at the University of Ioannina and is an active faculty member of 'Lyra', conducting courses in many Greek cities.
