Turkish, Greek

English

Cihan Türkoğlu began his musical journey when he was introduced to the Turkish folk lute, bağlama (saz). Having discovered his love for music, he became an autodidact bağlama player. Later, he studied classical music at the Marmara University in Istanbul, focusing on the cello. The classical music education alongside the varying music genres he found himself drawn to throughout the years, contributed to his current way of thinking. Cihan's unique identity stems from his unique view on how the saz can be used, practiced and taught, which can break the rules of how the instrument is traditionally played. Cihan's experience as a composer, teacher, concert performer and organiser of multicultural projects, has presented him with the opportunity to collaborate with many world-renowned artists.
