Born in Kalamata in 1993 and at 8 years of age, started learning the bouzouki. He later turned to the mainland laouto, initially under the guidance of Ilias Kappakos and later under Christos Zotos, performing all over Greece. He studied Byzantine music with Ioannis Plemmenos and in 1992 he explored the oud with Nikos Paleologos. He has participated in numerous seminars within the structure of Labyrinth in Crete, studying with various instructors. Taxiarchis worked for two years in Crete on Ross Daly's Labyrinth workshops together with Kelly Thoma and Sophia Efkleidou. He has collaborated and toured with various renowned musicians. He recently formed the duet Beraber with Sophia Evkleidou on cello and is a core member of Giorgos Psaltis' ensemble Akousmata Anatolis.
