Description
This course will focus on the Iranian tombak. We will learn both traditional and contemporary techniques, and focus on the rhythms and rhythmic cycles present in Persian traditional music. We will put these techniques into context by practicing some original compositions of instructor Pedram Khavarzamini, as well as some compositions by his master. This course is for students with elementary percussion knowledge, able to hold the tombak and produce the basic sounds.
